A top Mediterranean destination not to be missed
Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful Mediterranean towns, is located in the southernmost part of Croatia close to the Elaphiti Islands. The town lies at the foot of Mount Srđ, which can be reached by cable car and features the most spectacular view of Dubrovnik's old town, the sea and the islands.
Dubrovnik has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
Its medieval walls, a symbol of the town, stretch around its historic centre for 1,940 metres, and have been preserved in their original condition. They are open daily to visitors.
The town's main street, Stradun, is recognisable for its palaces and churches, and its Franciscan and Dominican monastery. Some of the most important sites not to be missed are the Lovrijenac and Revelin forts, Dubrovnik Cathedral and the Church of St. Blaise, the Rector's Palace, Minčeta Town Tower, and Sponza Palace.
Dubrovnik also hosts a variety of cultural festivals, concerts, exhibitions by renowned artists, and modern artistic performances.
